The Adventure mine Schneeberg

Discover the highest mine in Europe (2,000-2,500m) and the highest permanent settlement in Europe (2,355m).
The lead and zinc mine Schneeberg Passeier consists of over 150 km of galleries and shafts. With 27 km Schneeberg has the longest quarrying conveyor belt system of the world.

In 1967 was the end of mining at Schneeberg. Nowadays Schneeberg is a fascinating Adventure mine and shelter: Opening times of the museum: 15th July-15th October, exhibition room next to the refuge, coinage, miner's settlement, chapel Maria Schnee, education path, two-hour, half day or full day guided tour through the gallery, 3,5 km - gallery ride by mine railway.

Hut newly built in 1995 open from the end of May until the end of October, 100 seats in 3 restaurants with hot food all day.

Schneeberg is also central cross of Alpine hiking paths, 13-hut-round, Tiroler Höhenweg (Tyrolean path), Mountain bike tour and you can find many species of alpine flora and fauna, and lots of mountain lakes in the surroundings.
